Founded by music producer Sam Phillips in Memphis, Tennessee in February 1952, Sun Records was the first label to record Elvis Presley, Charlie Rich, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash. Prior to that, Sun Records had concentrated mainly on African-American musicians because Phillips loved rhythm and blues, and wanted to bring it to a wider, and more diverse audience. The music of many Sun Records musicians helped lay part of the foundation of late 20th-century rock and roll, and influenced many younger musicians, including the Beatles.

One of the architects of rock & roll, Carl Perkins is best known as the writer and original singer of the rockabilly anthem “Blue Suede Shoes”. He kicked off his musical career in the mid-’40s, and by 1954 Perkins and his brothers drove to Memphis to audition for Sun Records. In early 1955 he released “Let the Jukebox Keep On Playing” b/w “Gone Gone Gone”, but Perkins’ biggest hit came in late 1956, “Blue Suede Shoes”, which was an instant smash and made Perkins the first white country artist to cross over to the R&B chart as well. Along with Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins was one of the seminal rockabilly artists on Sam Phillips’ Sun label, and despite some hard times, Perkins persevered, creating a body of work that has been both critically acclaimed and extremely influential on songwriters, guitar players, and singers alike.

This feminine, super soft tank top features a satin label and slightly relaxed and longer fit. It's made from 50% poly, 25% combed ring spun cotton and 25% rayon. Care Instructions: Machine wash cold, do not bleach and tumble dry low.
